Rules

  • All fics MUST feature at least one girl group member/female idol in the main pairing. F/F pairs are encouraged but not required.

  • Fic submissions must be at least 1000 words, unless it's a particular style or genre that requires it be under 1000 words. Be in touch with us and we'll be flexible!

  • If you are minor, you will not be permitted to submit explicit content.

  • No dead dove content; if it is necessary for your fic, please discuss it with the mods

  • Please submit on time. As this is an album-inspired anthology fest, we can’t skip out on any records! If you want to discuss extensions or are looking for help with your WIP, feel free to contact the mods anytime! In line with this, make sure to respond during check-ins 1 and 2 so we know you’re doing fine!

  • There's no shame if you need to drop out. Life happens! But please do so by the second check-in (July 12), so that we can adequately prepare for posting. If you drop out after the deadline without informing us, you will be ineligible to participate in the next round of this fest. As long as you notify us of your drop-out before the deadline, you may still participate in the next round!

FAQs

How does this fest work?

  • FOR THE RECORD is an album anthology fest that celebrates albums that inspire a generation. This round is inspired by the album Melodrama by Lorde.

  • We aim to curate a fan-created collection of songfics based on each of the tracks from the original album. Each of the fics will feature inspiration from one of the tracks and feature female k-pop idols.

  • Participants will sign up on the Google Form to submit requests for their desired song to write an original fanwork/songfic. After the admins work their magic, they will assign each participant a song to write their fic after.

What fandoms is this open to? This fest is open to any fandom featuring female k-pop idols and/or k-pop girl group members. Characters and pairings across k-pop fandoms are welcome, too!

Will I get to choose my song? Participants are asked to include their top 3 song requests when signing up using our Google Form. We are confident that most if not all participants will receive an assignment based on one of these top 3 choices, although if there are any serious conflicts, we will reach out via email to ask if you’re willing to write for a different song or would like to drop out.

What if I don’t get the song I want? If sign-up conflicts prevent someone from being able to write for any of their top choices, admins will contact you via email and ask if you’re willing to write for a different song.

Is there a minimum word count/quality? Fics have a minimum word count of 1000 words. For other details, see the rules.
